HYROX Event Overview
HYROX is a sequence of a 1km run followed by a functional workout, repeated 8 times. It's a test of strength, speed, power, and endurance, suitable for different physical abilities. The event has global popularity and consistent requirements across locations. Founded by Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste, HYROX events use timing chips for performance tracking.
Event Format
- The HYROX competition includes a series of runs, ski erg, sled push and pull, burpee broad jump, rowing, kettlebell farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls.
- Categories vary in weights and repetitions.
- HYROX events are hosted globally, including in the USA, UK, Spain, Dubai, and the Netherlands.
- Participants must be over 16. The event is inclusive, with various divisions for individuals, doubles, and relay teams.
HYROX Age Categories
HYROX competitors, excluding PRO Division participants, are divided into age categories ranging from 16 to 89 years old. Age groups are determined based on the competitor's age on race day.

HYROX Divisions
HYROX offers 4 divisions, differing in gender, repetition, and weight. The running distance is consistent across all divisions, with each participant running 1 km between workouts for a total of 8 km. Starts occur in waves by division, exclusively among same-division participants.

Rankings, available post-event on the official HYROX website, are based on completion times, from the swiftest to the slowest, within each division and age group. Adjustments, including penalties for incomplete segments or errors in movements, may occur within 48 hours post-race.
Qualitification System
World Championships- Qualification for the annual HYROX World Championships is open to any participant of regular events, with a limited number of slots per division, detailed in each event's Athlete's Guide.
- Qualified individuals in age groups up to 59 must compete at PRO division standards, while those 60+ will compete with their qualified standards.
- DOUBLES teams in younger brackets compete at PRO standards, whereas 60+ maintain their standards. Team members can be replaced by someone of the same age and gender.
- Competitors qualifying in multiple divisions can participate in all, subject to non-conflicting start times.
- Participants compete in their age group as of the qualifying event. Age group winners are recognized but do not receive prize money or the overall title.
- The Elite 15 wave, consisting of the season's fastest, compete for the overall title and prize money, as announced in the Athlete’s Guide. They are not eligible for age group titles.
- The EU/US OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS welcome all competitors across divisions, with no qualification necessary and no nationality restrictions.
- Competitors complete tasks as per their division's standards to vie for the EU/US OPEN Champion title in their age group, without prize money incentives.
- Qualification for Majors is through prior placings or top Pro times, with the top 3 of each Major automatically qualifying for the next.
- Entrance to the World Championships is exclusively through Majors or LCQ placements, not regular season times.
- Post-Majors, 12 slots for the World Championships are available, divided equally between two LCQ races, with a possible extra slot for the final LCQ.
